Observing on Grade 11


I was conducting my observation on grade 11 Originators and Voyagers. My critic teacher was giving a new material; the material was about oral communication in context, the first material was about the definition and general information of communication. They students were exited, because that was their first time to learn English in new grade. The class started at 01.00 after lunch break. but the day before, I discussed with my teacher with the material that will be given and what I should do during the teaching activity conducted by the teacher .
            When we arrived in the classroom, as usual the teacher opened the material with the prayer then it was continued with checked the attendance. The teacher was so cheerful managed the opening section and students feedback was so good. Brainstorming also conducted before giving the core of material. Teacher aimed to develop students’ critical thinking the question given was related to the topic but was not really hard. Teacher just wanted to motivate and warm the situation.
                        The teacher was using communicative approach, and student-oriented method. It can be seen when the teacher was mostly asked the students to answer teacher’s questions. on this meeting the teacher was asking the students to do group jargon regarding to de oral communication explanation. Teacher’s instructions were given before teacher explaining the material. So everything they knew will be put on the group jargon. Passive students were instructed to participate equally along with the active students; it was needed for less active students to do reflection. The times came when the jargon was presented. Students and teacher including were excited to see the performance, and it was unexpected just 10 mites preparation have produced creative performance. I enjoyed it so much.    
            In the closing section, the teacher has summarized the learning materials learnt and re-call one by one group to explain on their words about the materials given.  Then questions answers happened between teacher and students. The observation was good, and I learnt a lot from that situation especially managing group activity for those students who have less active. Maraming selamat po!
