Measurement and
evaluation conducted in order to know whether learning objectives already
achieved or not. Based on the classroom observation that I have conducted
before, my critical teacher has used some various measurements, and it was
written and oral activities. The questions were depending on the topic given.
First day of observation the measurement was written measurement because the
topic was about the definition of communication. Teacher has provided some keywords
on a sheet of paper and later students filled it with their understanding
related with the material given before. On another observation teacher also
provided some questions (short answer, true/false, matching, essay) with
certain time of filling, the questions number started from 20 to 55 questions.
And on oral communication teacher sometimes divided the students into group for
conducting oral presentation with some criteria provided by the teacher and
individual oral measurement also applied by asking one students to state or
express their opinion related with the topic given while the other will be
given a chance to give feedback based on the opinion stated previously. For
those kinds of measurement, teacher has provided scoring rubric to make students
understand which scope that will be measured by the teacher, scoring rubric
must be shown to avoid objectivity in scoring process.
On evaluation part, my teacher was conducting two kinds
of evaluation. The first one was self-evaluation. Students are asked to solve a
case given by the teacher. Students will try to solve some problem given by the
teacher later their work will be swapped and they will try to find the best
solution by doing positive debate. While the second one by giving project, teacher
instructed the students to do a project related with the topic given, the
project will be done at home with due date of time. Oral project will be
presented later in form of presentation. And library research also being
instructed, since they already learned about research, conducting research
project was not really hard for them.
