English Teaching Plan
3 weeks left, thank god for everything, it went well. After
conducting teaching observation on the first week and second week, I was
conducting teaching cooperation which during this schedule/part has instructed
me to have teaching collaboration with the cooperate teacher in the classroom, but at
first before I started my teaching collaboration, I asked my teacher for the teaching plan
used by her. She explained and shows me how to make appropriate lesson plan based on USHS rules,
because the lesson plan here quite simple than in Indonesia but still the
curriculum is used as the guidance. Next we were discussing about the
material that I had to explain during teaching collaboration and my teaching
experience including for my initial and final visit. The material was totally
different since English is used as second language, it was quite challenging but I
need to focus to make my lesson plan as complete and creative. The lesson plan
should contain classroom activities and pedagogical notes, and is integrated
with innovative activities. All of these elements are presented in the
following parts:
1. Preparation
Doing preparation about all the equipment needs before
conducting teaching activity is really important in order to make the goals of
learning achieved. Preparation also conducted to make teacher ready and be
professional during the classroom activity which is to be conducted later, and there are some preparations must be
prepared on the lesson plan as follow:
a. Designing learning objectives, this term also known as
the indicator of the lesson plan. Learning objectives must be created in order
to know what scope of goals that will be achieved on the students to make them
understand about the material will be given. Learning objectives prepared based
on the curriculum which already knew the students’ needs. Designing learning
objectives is the first thing need to do before making the material.
b. Learning material and media. Deciding material and
media used also need to be focused by the teacher, because material as the core
of something that need to be delivered must be prepared well and also with the
media as the medium or bridge of how the material will be transferred. Electing
appropriate media is a must to be conducted at first.
c. Preparing method, the using of method should be based
on the situation and grade of lass. Students usually love with method that
asked them to have creative and fun learning. Choosing appropriate method also
really necessary to be written and memorized by the teacher in order to make the
teacher ready to face the class.
2. Introduction
Introduction is the first component of teaching. Teacher
will prepare the students physical and psychology in order to make them ready
to receive the information will be given. On this case teacher must become able
to read the situation faster to be able to apply concept of good introduction
at first; also including for pray section, check the attendance list, and ask
students condition to make them ready to learn and build good relationship
between teacher and students.
3. Motivation
Giving motivation before teaching the material can be
conducted by applying some activities. The activities can be brainstorming, the
aim is to construct their cognitivism for the information that they had. A game
or song also can be used as the motivation, how the teacher can attract student
attention to make them curious and excited about the material will be given. Or
another way is by giving a story relates with the material but the story must
be packed on good and interesting one. The core of giving motivation is how the
teacher builds engagement to the students to make them being motivated to
learn, because teacher believes that by giving motivation students be more
confident to face the class.
4. Core activity
Delivering instruction is the hardest part of teaching
activity, teacher ability in communicating, demonstrating, lecturing, and
managing the material is important to master. On this part the skill of
teaching must strong and systematically arrange. Mastering the material also needed
because on this part the interactions will be dominated by the teacher but
still students are given a chance to do development. On this activity teacher
proficiency on using media is important in order to create effective learning
process, on this 21th century of learning teacher asked to be more innovative
in teaching and able to master some scopes of technology. Furthermore, handle
classroom management also important to make conducive activity in the
classroom.
5. Practice
The core of conducting practice is to make sure that
students understand about the material given before. Practice can be in written
or oral. And level of the practice must be given step by step from the easier
to the hardest regarding to the students’ ability.
6. Appreciation
Giving appreciation is important in every student’s
efforts; appreciation is conducted to strengthen student’s engagement in the
classroom. The appreciation should be meaningful and not too much. The easier or meaningful reinforcement that can be applied is by giving oral appreciation and star for good sttitude or even extra time for doing assignment.

Enrichment
Teacher is not only providing one or two explanation
with its examples, but the more that teacher can give, the more students will
understand about the material. Giving another relevant resource of learning
will help students to build wide conception and how they can see problem or
things from any other perspective. Teacher also should able to engage in
reflection questions and encourage analysis through higher order thinking
prompts.
8. Evaluation
Applying
a diverse question bank for written work and exercises or provide alternative
formats for student work: written homework, journal, portfolio,
group/individual projects, and student-directed research project is used to
evaluate students performance after they got the information from the teacher.
Giving evaluation has another purpose to receive feedback from the result of
the evaluation and it can be used to do reflection for the teacher and improve
their teaching ability and the way of giving instruction. On evaluation also
teacher can assess student’s performance; scoring rubric must be prepared and
shown. This measurement has purpose to see students improvement.
9. Reflection
Reflection should be conducted after the learning process finished, the aim of doing reflection is knowing the strength and weaknesses of the learning activity conducted before. doing reflection also will help the teacher to improve their future teaching activities in order to help the students and teacher to deliver the material successful and meaningfully.
