(Teacher giving opportunity for the students to answer teacher's questions)
After conducting observations and saw the handout
of the materials of both classes for one semester, I can report that the
teacher provided various learning materials. For the grade 9 the
material in big topic was about High School paper publication (School
Journalism) complete with its sub chapters, while for the grade 11 the students learnt about oral communication in context. The learning materials
were adapted from the curriculum and developed by the school. But the techniques
and method used in delivering the material for every chapters or materials were different; it was depend
with the situation and material portion from each sub topic. Teacher was using innovative approach
to introduce the material to the students, this approach was very effective make the students interest and curious to know more about the material that will be taught. Beside of using technology as the
bridge to transfer the material, the teacher also used creative source like old
magazine and paper as learning material. It was not only from the textbook but
different item that made the student could explore more. One extraordinary
thing that I got from the observation was the teacher mixed the method and
strategies based on the students need, like example the teacher was using game
for delivering the material and the game equipment were using waste from their
home or their around environment and then they recycled it to be a useful learning media to learn. It was
amaze me, hopefully I can apply it here (in Bali) because there were lot of benefits that I got and learned.
