Conducting Classroom Management



          Managing and controlling a whole class was not easy. Every student has their own characteristic and different needs. Teachers are expected to be able to handle the diversity and lead the students to achieve the learning goals together without leaving somebody behind. I applied several treatments to manage my classes. I always told them the golden rules of my class; after the prayer conducted I told them everything that must be followed by my students, it made them understand what should be done during the learning process. For the punishment, some punishments were made by only me and some were made by agreement with the students. Giving students a chance to participate deciding the punishment will make them take more their responsibility. In my class speaking tagalong was forbidden, all communication was totally in English, when somebody break it they have to show their talent in front of the class on the last minutes before the meeting ended. That was the unique rules that we have been made.
            Teacher also known as facilitator, I was facilitating students with some information and guidance needed. When the individual and group activity was conducted I was giving guidance and information to help the activity.       
            Miss behavior, students sometimes did not pay attention on teacher explanation, but they were having their own conversation or did not respect the teacher. Things that I offered during this situation, I was strictly told the rules during and before activity. Second thing that I offered was by speaking communicative; I persuaded and motivated them with inspirational story in order to make them realize the responsibility as a student.
            Giving reinforcement and feedback also were conducted; it was not only for appreciation for the students. But it was more than that, teacher helped students to learn from giving reinforcement what kind of behavior that will be rewarded and what kind of communication considered as the polite one. Reinforcement that I conducted was verbal and non-verbal reinforcement. For the verbal one I gave cheer yell (clapping jargon) while non-verbal one I gave sticker that I brought from Indonesia. Feedback also was given at the end of the activity.
