Based on the
observation conducted during on the full first week, I can conclude that my
teacher has 3 cores of activities that should be put on the lesson activities,
they are:
Firstly, she did introduction or preliminary activities,
as we know that introduction on learning process means teacher will observe
class preparation before the materials delivered. The observation could be on
many aspects, such as the class condition (environment), students’ psychology,
students’ appearance, students’ readability, and prepare the teaching media. On
this part the teacher was conducting some activities, they are: the first one
was teacher greeting the students with good spirit and cheerful, it was needed
to get students attention and their interest to learn. Being cheerful also
affected students performances they was feeling more active. Second one is
conducted they prayer. As a religious country, praying before conducting
something is common thing should be done. Teacher asked a student as volunteer
to lead the prayer, after finished teacher checked students attendance quickly,
while checking, teacher also observed the class cleanliness to make sure the
class environment in good condition. After everything observed by the teacher,
she explained the rules of her class. The rules were explaining briefly, and I
could summarize it that students are asked to be active, respectful, avoid
using mobile phone during the class. That was common rules same like in Indonesia.
Next she move to the another part called giving motivation, as the name
“motivation” it was aiming to motivate students engaging the lesson, teacher
game some activities, like giving motivational quote, brain storming and
games/role play which was have relation with the material will be given,
teacher just wanted to open students’ mind (contructivism) to prepare
themselves in learning new material and problem solving. And she was telling
the aim of learning today at the end of opening.
Secondly, she has conducted the main
activities. The transition was very smooth, after the brainstorming conducted
teacher related the main material with the questions on the brainstorming
before. Students were able easily followed the instructions. Later she explained
the information through power point projector and sometimes she asked the
students some questions for purposing to build students critical thinking. The
materials were explained clearly with simple and easy language, no students
left behind during the activity. Playing games sometimes conducted for ice
breaking and giving reinforcement during the activity also commonly used.
Thirdly, teacher has conducted the tasks to measure
whether students understood or not. The measurements were conducted in oral,
and after everything already conducted teacher asked the students to summarize
the material they have learned and most of the students were actively
participated to answer teacher’s questions. Before leave the class teacher gave
a written assessment to take home along with the scoring rubric. And finally
teacher dismissed the class.
