Another Observation Day on Grade 9

Today was Wednesday and again I have a chance to observe grade 9 Developers and Examinators. My critic teacher was giving a new material; the material was about paper newspaper clipping. They students were exited, because they were asked to bring a newspaper and school paper. The class started at 08.30 but the day before, I discussed with my teacher with the material that will be given.

            When we arrived in the classroom, as usual the teacher opened the material with the prayer then it was continued with checked the attendance. The teacher was so cheerful managed the opening section and students feedback was so good. Brainstorming also conducted before giving the core of material. Teacher aimed to develop students’ critical thinking the question given was related to the topic but was not really hard. Teacher just wanted to motivate and warm the situation.

                        The teacher was using communicative approach, and student-oriented method. It can be seen when the teacher was mostly asked the students to answer teacher’s questions. before students conducted their group activity, students explained some points about local and international paper also some explanations about magazine. Then students were grouped into several group and they worked together to make a presentation regarding to the material given about journalism. Then students made their paper clipping together and I was guide them and managed their activity to make all the situation under control. The result will be presented next week after the summative test conducted. Consultation also was free to do to make students’ project stay on the line. After 30 minutes consumed for preparing the paper clip, teacher ended the class.  

            In the closing section, teacher summarized the learning materials learnt and asked every group for the preparation. Then questions answers happened between teacher and students. The observation was good, and I learnt a lot from that situation especially managing group activity. Maraming selamat po!
